I see better when I close my eyes because it allows me to feel. I pray with my eyes closed and this helps me feel closer to the God of my choice. Resting the eyes helps me breathe deeper and remember to breathe. When my eyes are closed I can hear better and listen more. With a moment of silence my eyes close. This is the tool I use to pause. The allow room for myself to be present and not get overwhelmed with thoughts and all of the inevitable things that are going on around me. It helps me to slow down. When I have a craving I close my eyes and just breathe. Many times consciously trying to empty the brain of thoughts. Also with cravings I find that switching a room, simply walking into a different setting helps me to let go of the urges to drink. So when I close my eyes I get a break. A sweet relief from all that is my life. When I press on my closed eyes for a moment this also helps me feel refreshed and alive again. There are so many gifts in sobriety that I am grateful for. I find the best ones are the simplest ones that you can incorporate in your daily routine. Emphasis on emptying the mind of the destructive thoughts and feelings and just sitting with peace if only for a moment and being able to come back more clear in your mind.
I see better with my eyes closed!!
