I stopped drinking on Sep. 3 2024 due to my son being born. I wanted to change, but ive been having craving. Any advise?
Cravings get rough but they eventually get less as we continue on or journeys. Distract yourself, and remember why you started. Your son is your reason, but don’t forget you deserve this for yourself too. Stay connected, stay busy, and don’t be afraid to reach out when it gets tough. You got this.
@raul314211 at you trying to stay sober by yourself?
Do you remember what you're like when drinking? Do you want your son to ever see that side of you?
Advice? If you haven't started you may want to start going to AA Meetings, reading the Big Book of AA. Here's an idea. If he can't sleep read to him the Big Book of AA.
Mental preoccupation is a part of the sickness of substance abuse. It sounds like you are changing. You're asking for advice. Most people in their addiction think they can outsmart others. Read literature, take a walk and take in the scenery with all of your senses. Also love hot bath. Think about all the things you can do with your kid that you can only do sober. List em in alphabetical order.
Meetings are always a good reminder to me, as to the perils of addiction. Also meditating and reflecting on the reasons you changed, relationships you destroyed, legal issues you gained or narrowly avoided...
