I struggle with achohl (beer). I can go 1week maybe 2 weeks with out .but if I drink 1 beer it turns into 3months of drinking before I can get a hold of it again. I've routine myself 2 have beer before bed for about a few years now. I know I can't even be social drinking because I will not control it. Need 2 stop all together. I need help

Marlo that's great that you have recognized that you want to stop. I would recommend finding an AA meeting in your area. There you will find people that will be able to help you and have had similar feelings that you are having. Having a group of peers to help hold yourself accountable and to also just not feel alone is very freeing. You don't have to feel alone. Making the choice to attend the first meeting can be very difficult but it is so worth it. If you need help finding a meeting let me know.

AA has helped me so far Marlo…. You can find woman’s only meetings if that makes you more comfortable. You can just go sit and listen… no need to share if you don’t want to just yet.

I'm going to pray for the both of us. U can do it. We will get through it it seems like it's mind over matter but our minds are or seems stronger than anything. Oh boy?

Download the apps “meeting guide” and “in the rooms” meeting guide gives times and locations of AA meetings based off your GPS, in the rooms is a listing of online meetings. Keep your head up! Don’t be hard on yourself, the insanity of addiction can be fixed. You got this man!

Admitting you have a problem like you're doing is a good 1st step Marlo. AA meetings have given me a life better than I ever thought I could have. You can do this too if you want it!

I found online Intergroup AA meetings helpful. You can find meetings from 6am-11pm daily. Good meetings

I'm going to try that out
Thank you. Stephanie

Marlo you got this. I know it’s hard, keep your head up. Be kind to yourself. Find a meeting surround yourself with positive people. Get numbers, find a sponsor work the steps. I’m praying for you.:blush:

You never have to drink again.
If you can quit on your own for one or two weeks then you don't need treatment. You just need to get to some meetings. This app will help you find meetings. And don't just try one. Try several. And open up at the meetings and let people know who you are and why you're there. You'll be surprised how fast you'll find people that can definitely relate and have themselves recovered

Get some phone numbers and start using them. Call someone before you pick up a drink. You don't have to worry about invading anyone space. They are helping themselves when they help you.

Thanks Dave I'm trying to find numbers with no success as of yet.

You're not alone, Marlo. And your story/type of addiction is not unique. You do have a support group who know exactly what you've gone thru - they're in AA. Do yourself a favor and just go listen... you don't have to talk, just take some time for yourself and listen to what your peers are doing about their drinking habits. It'll help. I promise.
