I survived Thanksgiving without a drink

I feel really proud of myself for sticking to the promises that I’ve made to myself.

I’m having a rough time with my mental health lately, so it’s more important now to I have something to feel good about. I’m determined to keep going.

I made a little mocktail all night and no one offered me a drink. It was almost too easy in that sense.

Whenever the thought of spiking my drink came up, I just remembered how shitty I feel afterward and how it sucks the joy and peace out of me. It was enough to stop me.

How did you guys do this Thanksgiving?

Great job! Honesty and perspective.

Sometimes just surviving is a win. Ultimately we’d like to get to thriving, but for now let’s celebrate that we made it thru Thanksgiving! Mine ended in a complete sh!t show. My family all arrived with FN red solo cups (as always). I don’t get tempted by their drinking. It’s their nasty mouths and the drama I can’t stand. I hate to be the buzzkill, but I’m close to not participating in anymore family functions if they can’t behave properly. I just don’t enjoy it anymore

Good. Talked to my girls and met on zoom with some AA friends :ok_hand:

Well done!

Great job lady! Praying for a strength of mind and reminders that you’re not alone, that you can continue on strong 🫶🏽🎉

Thanksgiving was day one, so far so good!

Keep up the great work you have in your recovery!
I took iced tea to my family gathering and thought oh I could put some vodka in and know one would know. I don't even really like hard liquor, I was a beer drinker! So I didn't!!! LOL

Congratulations :tada:!! Do the humpty dance it's your chance you got over the hump!!!!

Same here. Your mental and physical health is more important. It gets easier to stop going to those kind of events and happiness comes more easily.

Congrats Crystal! I as well made it through the holiday! I spent the day with my son. Then we went to an Alkathon meeting here in town. The young people committee I’m a part of was given the time slot of 6-8pm on thanksgiving. We had a blast being with my sober family of AA! And today I was able to share my 3 years of sobriety with more sober friends!

The craving for a drink has gone but the instant and temporary relief of the effect of booze has been a twister to my mental health. I take antidepressants now and they really do help a little. Winter doesn't help a whole lot but as soon as it's here it is gone. God bless.

Congrats for your victory. Another sober Thanksgiving in the books :facepunch:

Fantastic! This was my first sober Thanksgiving and I was a little fearful, but stayed alcohol free.
