I swear…some people seem to be even more angry that I got sober then when I was a drunk. It’s like you just can’t win.
They taught me in class when you use your more predictable they you are going to go get high. Now they can't control or predict you and that can be uncomfortable.
Never did bought of it that way, thanks.
That is why we need to go to meetings.for friends and meet lots of people.
People get jealous.when we make big changes in our life.stay a way from them.if they are drinking .safer.
It’s not the people drinking. It’s literally the people who wanted me to get sober in the first place.
Unfortunately, some people are like crabs in a bucket. They don't want to be there. They don't want you there. Big issue with that is they will pull down anyone who makes progress, while trying to climb for themselves.
I get the same response from "animal lovers" when they ask me why I don't eat meat. Because I too "love animals", so I don't eat them. I'm not judging, I'm just answering a question and they feel judged. Because we all know deep down right and wrong and what's better or whatever, but we pick and choose what we decide to have integrity about. And that's fine, but all you can do is live for you, you'll go mad trying to appease the masses.
Go to a meeting. Be with our people. It ALWAYS helps
I found when I got sober my wife was supper angry at me. After several months and lots of talking and patience… it was because a few different reasons. Think of it like Stockholm syndrome. People are used to doing things a certain way because you “programmed” the response you wanted from them. It was the easier softer way for them. Also change is hard for some people to work with. As addicts, we are manipulating, and selfish. The ones we conditioned are used to that. Show them that the sober you is the better version. It takes time but trust me when you get there it is wonderful. Don’t try to fix everything in a hurry. Good luck man.
My ex wife and I are friendly, she is sometimes frustrated that I got sober after we divorced. She doesn’t realize I couldn’t have gotten sober in that relationship. People who don’t get it never will.
