I think journaling is the second best gift I’ve given

I think journaling is the second best gift I’ve given myself besides sobriety.
I’m going to be at a get together tonight with some light temptations/triggers/whatever. I’m prepping by reading through posts and journal entries from a couple years ago when I was desperate to quit and determined that this one would stick. SO helpful to have my past self right there to remind me “This sh*t was horrifyingly bad, you don’t want it.”

Sometimes being away from the damage for a long time makes it easier to just forget all the bad stuff that came with drinking…. Why do brains do this? Lol
Having a journal helps immensely with reminding me of the very real h3ll of addiction.

(Also, for tonight, I have an “out” lined up, AND know sober people that will be there who know I’m sober too, and people to text, etc. also highly recommend).

Anyway, brains are downright silly and the only thing that keeps me from going crazy is knowing I have the power to change mine.

I also journal and feel it helps tremendously. It’s very therapeutic. 🩵
