I’ve been a painter my entire life and my ritual

I’ve been a painter my entire life and my ritual was to pour myself a glass and drink while painting. I put the paintbrush down for a long time doubting that I would be as creative or enjoy it as much without a drink. Well I have finally picked a paintbrush back up and I have to say that self doubt was silly because this piece is going to be AMAZING.
Picture is current work in progress.

Love this post. I’m pretty much the same about my painting stuff. Always did it with the crutch of a substance. Even while studying art in college. Glad you’re back to it. Looks great. Now if only I can find the same path….

I did my entire art undergrad totally sloshed. I’m surprised at how well those pieces came out looking back at them now.

Yes. He will be holding a melting planet (which is why the fingers are all janky, they’re going to be mostly covered).

I dig it.

Have you decided if it will be a planet from our solar system??

It’ll just be a mix of colors. I’m going to try a new technique for it. I have not quite decided yet if I want to go with literal earth colors or not, since it’s a commentary on climate change.

Acrylic or Oil? I used to paint in acrylic and mixed media.

That looks awesome!

Acrylic. Oil is wayyyy too much work. Acrylic I can mix on the canvas with my finger :joy:

Thanks!

Yeah oil is intense. I agree..

That’s awesome, it took me a while to get back to some of my interests. But I made it eventually.

Cool. I recently picked up my art again while in rehab. I had let whatever talent I had just go to waste for like 15+ years. Booze was more important, apparently.
