I’ve been af for 12 days. My problem now is that I am constantly hungry, is that normal? I thought I would lose weight because I’m not drinking alcohol, but I’m actually gaining weight.

That’s normal for sure…. Alcohol is processed as sugar in the body so it’s looking for replacement…. It’s normal to over eat …. You will adjust and the weight will go down as long as you eat right

Congrats on day 12! I’m there with you at day 17, and also day 3 without nicotine. I’ve been overeating quite a bit the past few weeks that’s for sure. I have been constantly hungry, and then if I’m not hungry I just eat from boredom or from being emotional. I need to stop buying peanut butter cause I will eat the whole jar in a day, so I should probably just not buy it. Sunflower seeds seem to be a nice way to keep me busy and get a salty snack in, pickles are also good. I hope the eating will less for both of us as we continue on the sober path

Thank you congratulations to you as well

Same here and it’s only day one for me lol. I gave up alcohol a few years back for Lent and Kitkats are what got me through it lol. Like someone else said, we are looking for something to replace our normal sugar intake and all this new free time. I’m getting kind of antsy right now myself :weary: Mind over matter!

I’ve also noticed increased appetite! Instead of ignoring that, and trying to fight another battle with control- (one step at a time) I’m eating when hungry and adding more physical activity to 1. stay distracted 2. Offset it. I’ve been told it will eventually balance out and it’s normal.

I gained 20 lbs since quitting 6 months ago. I’m going to just worry about sobriety for now and deal with the weight later!
