I’ve been having 2 to 3 glasses of wine every night, skipping maybe one or two nights in the week and it started when lock down started and I’ve been doing this for about 7 months now. Before that I worked mornings ( now I work from home ) and only drank when I was invited out occasionally ( now everything is closed or you gotta be vaxed , I’m not ) I’ve noticed it turned from a social thing to a me thing. Honestly I would like to drink socially on occasions eventually but right now I just wanna get out the habit of drinking at home so freely and frequently, so I’m stopping completely . I need to hit the reset button and it’s harder then I thought so I’m here and it helps to have the encouragement and read the post of so many working on the same goals knowing I’m not alone. Day 3 no wine tonight while cooking or with dinner I gotta stick to it
.
Welcome to the community. Glad we have been a help to you. I have ofent seen posts similar to yours. The shutdown created a lot of problems for people and helped a lot of people expose a problem before it got bad.you aren't alone here.
You have to diagnose yourself. Someone on here eloquently said “if it’s out of control, it’s controlling you”. I post this link a lot. It’s a really good listen if you are on the fence about your relationship with alcohol.
If nothing else, it can kill time while you wait for the stores to close.
Have a great day!
Thanks I’ll definitely listen to it while I’m making dinner tonight instead of having my usual glass of wine. I don’t think I’m on the fence I’ve been drinking a glass while cooking and with dinner or with dinner and one after tho it’s been for the past several months almost nightly. There are other thing I could have with dinner but I’ve been choosing wine every time so I know for a fact it’s time to stop. I don’t think there are levels to being alcoholic you either are or you aren’t and because of my urge to want those 2 to 3 glasses I’m here willingly and accepting
Your story with alcohol is similar to mine, only that I have been having my 2 to 3 glasses of wine for years, and I hardly took a day off. Like you I noticed that I preferred drinking alone more than with company, because with people around I often ended up having even more. I think it’s amazing that you realized the issue and took action so soon, and I believe you should be proud of your new life without the booze!
