I’ve been noticing 3 months and ppl been relapsing, I’ve been nervous and don’t want to relapse especially holidays coming up this year I’m staying home I’m trying make a goal to be sober for one year and count many years 🫶🏾😩
You got this Nikki ! One day at a time
put the plug in the jug
We have to work really hard to reprogram our brains to not think of everything as a reason to drink. Think about how sad it is, "it's my birthday, I wanna get fücked up", " I had a long day at work I need to get drunk", "the weather is terrible, I need a drink", "it's Christmas, I need to get wasted". I mean think about all the excuse we make, and think about how dumb those excuses are. Everyone else can use those excuses now but we don't have to. Drinking for us doesn't make things better, it makes things WORSE.
Hang in there Nikki.
Nikki, have you considered just staying sober for today? Instead of a year or a month? For me personally I’m only staying sober for today, I might be drunk tomorrow but I’m not going to pick up today no matter what. That way it doesn’t matter what holiday it is or isn’t.
That attitude has helped me. I hope it helps you.
Ty
Agree ty
Yes agree definitely this weather would’ve been perfect eggnog cocktail but ya I understand
Your right just gotta not think about it as much
I mean, what's wrong with just eggnog? Right? For me, cocktails end up in jail or at least pïssing off everyone around me and ending up in some ugly person's bed.
I'm too tired to deal with myself in that mode anymore.. I'm exasperating at that level.
They taught us the 30 day, 60 day, and 90 days are the times people break. It’s certainly easy and accessible all over California.
I felt this because the first 3 months felt almost easy. Now I'm on this site and looking for extra safety measures. One day at a time😊
Several people have already said it, one day at a time. Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month, you don't drink today, and each day you do the same thing. I remember my last lapse, and when I was coming out of it, and had only 4 days sober, I had so much shame, intensity, guilty. I wanted my 90 days back, my clean time back. I was so disappointed. At day 4 I finally realized what one day at a time meant for me, and to me. I had heard that saying for years. But never really tried living by it for a long period of time. Now I have 972 days, and how I got there was one day at a time. The days add up quickly, and me living each day for the day, helped me be much more mindful and present in my life. One day at a time.
Well said Taylor
