I’ve been seeing a lot of people here lately feeling hopeless and discouraged. I just want to tell those of you not to give up! I’m newly sober -50 days today- but I myself went for decades desperately wanting to stop drinking and never going more than two or three days.
It wasn’t until I finally reached out for help and started going to meetings that it stuck. Just know that you’re not alone in this, it’s OK to ask for help.
A relapse is not the end of the world. Don’t give up! Just because you get one flat tire doesn’t mean you need to flatten the other three. You just pump it up and keep going. One day at a time.

Great post Shannon! I love it when young people experience the fact that Alcoholics Anonymous does work if you want it bad enough. Most people these days tend to be smarter than the program and decide that it doesn't work and they need an alternate route.

Most people relapse because they simply believe the Lie; that this time, everything will be okay. But it never is, is it?

I love the bit about the tires.

Love this! The gift of surrendering and asking for help is what keeps me sober. And what a blessing it is to help other alcoholics who reach out for the same help. We all need each other and that is the beauty of AA. Congrats on 50 days!
