I’ve been sober for 38 days now, my husband is

I’ve been sober for 38 days now, my husband is still actively using. He’s abusive when he’s high. Today, when I got home from work, he put his hands on me again. I called the cops, he has warrants so he left, and I packed some of my things and left. I have never actually left before.
Staying true to my boundaries feels good, being true to myself and having some self respect feels phenomenal.
Here I am. Essentially homeless and living at the shelter yet relieved knowing that I don’t have to go home to toxicity. I’m unsure as to what will come of my marriage…but at least Im sober and holding my own! I finally grew a pair and I’m ecstatic over it!
Stay true to you everyone. You’re worth it!

Hi Aerial! I’m glad you maintained your boundaries, physically abusive relationships are tough to leave, but sobriety will definitely help you! If you need any help let me know!

You guys are amazing! Thank you all for your kind words.

How are things this morning?

That takes a lot of strength and bravery!

Sorry to hear it Aerial and glad you are safe

You are so more than worth it too! You are stronger than you can imagine. Keep yourself safe and continue your days. You’ve got this and you’ve done the right thing! Hugs

Stay strong!! You can do this Aerial. You deserve the best so don’t ever stay in a situation where you are being abused. You are loved and you are worthy

Keep heading in the right direction. You have this time and know you want to keep it. It sucks, but I had to get a divorce to get sober. Somethings need to take priority. Stay strong. It will be worth it. Check back in and tell us how you’re progressing.

You got this. I have faith in you

It is hard enough to stay sober with a supportive spouse, I can't even imagine what you are dealing with. I congratulate you for making the choice to save yourself by prioritizing yourself. You're worth it,and you need to tell yourself that every day. Whatever else life brings you, it will be very real. Seize every day as a sober victory, it's there for you and no one can take that from you except you.You got this!

My husband was arrested today. I know this is going to sound horrible but there is a huge part of me that is relieved by this.
I’m grateful that he will be sober, it’s not the most appealing way for that to have happened, but at least it’s a way! Everything seems to fall into place when I truly surrender to it. Which is something that I would not be capable of doing if I were not in recovery.

Hang in there. You did what you had to do. Keep taking care of yourself.

That’s exactly where I was one year ago! Stay strong and have faith and let it guide you!

Good job .saved your life and your sobriety.keep it up.aa. Org. Meetings

I’m glad you left and ate in a shelter. Take advantage of all the resources they hace to offer. Therapy job training permanent housing. No excuse for abuse. To defend is one thing to beat on some just because not even that. Is evil
