I’ve never been one to need a drink in the morning. My focus on not drinking weakens by mid afternoon. Some days its not a problem, other days, its very hard. How does anyone else manage their cravings?
Start a new activity - some type of sports or volunteer thing - so you'll be occupied and not thinking about drinking. I find filling my sober time with new (or existing) activities is a very positive use of time.
One moment at a time! Breath and it does get better. I was a wake up and start drinking because I was so hung over. If you can start going to the gym or a walk you'll start to feel the changes in your body and mind. It's hard but oh so worth it!
Agree with the above that finding new activities to occupy your mind is key. Maybe taking some time out to write down why you’re wanting to drink on that particular day and then listing the reasons why you shouldn’t could help pinpoint some of the thoughts that creep up on those harder days. No matter what give yourself grace and just take it one day at a time. You got this!
Mid-afternoon can be be the hardest for some. Take a quick pause, breathe, walk, even starts journaling anything to distract your mind. One small shift in what you’re doing can flip the script for the day. Keep going
