I’ve stopped a million times but always think I can

Thank you Julie. I have gone months without drinking but I don’t really know how to practice the steps. I have the book though so I’ll have someone at aa walk me through it. My main problem is everyone in this city drinks. All they seem to want to do is drink so yes that part can be a bit difficult.

Lisa-I look at what my final outcome to that first drink will be. Yes the majority of the world can drink and sometimes that doesn’t seem fair to a newcomer. It is the willingness to go through that book with someone else in AA that will help. Also there are millions of us out there that have found living without alcohol in our lives is fun fulfilling and ultimately rewarding. I know it sounds like a bunch of do-do but it will come to you also if you just don’t drink for today. Please give it a try. I’ve spent half my life now not drinking. Trust me when I say the last 29 yrs of my life have been full of ups and downs but thanks to a higher power, my friends around the table and my AA sponsor, I have not had a drink. Hang in there. Don’t leave before the miracle happens.

Lisa, in my journey I have found this to be true. I have also found there are many people who don’t drink even if they have access to it. It may seem impossible to find, but they are everywhere. When you form solid relationships that do not revolve around drinking, you feel more confident towards achieving your goal.

Hey Lisa,

I know that struggle. It’s gotten me back to crashing and burning many times. I’m a little over two weeks sober right now and more committed than I’ve ever been. I’ve realized that I have to get to the point where it becomes my foundation of living. If I stay sober all things are possible in my growth and enjoyment of life.

I’ve committed to my business partners, gotten a sponsor and committed to my friends and family that I will stay clean/sober. The accountability piece is huge.

If you trip and fall just pick yourself back up and re-commit until it sticks. Please feel free to reach out if you want to chat or need support.
