I wanna drink cause I am on vacation but I haven’t drank in 5 months cause I know if I have one drink the addiction will start again
Regardless of where I go or what I do, the fact that I am powerless over alcohol does not change. What has changed is the fact that I have a choice today!
That feels great because I had no choice when I was drinking. And if I just don’t drink no matter what life gets better.
I hear ya on that one I’m going to Mexico soon for vacation and it’s been on my mind alittle that I may have the urge to drink but I just know I cannot give in to any urges I’ve worked to hard to throw it all away
My hardest relapse came after thinking I could just drink on vacay and go back to normal (lol yeah right) after a few months of sobriety. Remember, every relapse is faster and harder. Once you leave that bubble of vacay mode, you’d be back home feeling guilty and probably get a case of the f%ck its. Put sprite in champagne flutes, get the prettiest smoothie with lots of fruit you can find! 5 months is so freaking long! Keep going!
They always talk about beach reads during the summer. For us on vaca maybe one of the thousands of books on sobriety should be on our list
Find a meeting. Made some great friends in Puerto Rico at the local meeting, and it made a big difference to have local support.
You’re already taking the right steps by posting about it. Drinking always seems tempting and there is always a catch to it. Recovery does for us slowly what drinking did for us quickly. It helps us to feel really good and it changes our perception of reality. But there’s always a catch with drinking. I haven’t found a catch to recovery yet. I’ve never heard anyone say that they are doing too much recovery. I hope your vacation goes well and you find something to fill the void that drinking makes us think it will help with. Calling people in my inner circle always helps.
If you're an addict then "one drink" is slow suicide, not to mention any casualties we take with us.
I just came off a vacation sober. It was crazy to notice everyone wasn’t getting slobberknockered
