I want to quit drinking but everyone i do i shake and get sick. I don't think i can quit cold turkey because of this. I can't afford inpatient rehab, can't miss the time from work. I don't want to talk to my doctor because i don't want this to follow me forever. Is there any way too get help outpatient anonymously?

Contact your local AA. What city and state are you in if I may ask? I get the anonymity part. You might be surprised in a good way about how people actually would receive you.

It sounds like you may need detox. You could look into FMLA (family and medical leave act) which may allow you to take paid time off for detox, depending on your employer. Your employer wouldn’t know anything specific so you could tell them whatever

Medical detox will be your safest and best way to go. Going off of what Adam said I would contact your HR and see if your work does have FMLA and if so what the requirements are. FMLA protects your job but short term/long term disability is what pays you while you’re off of work so they coincide together and he is right your employer wouldn’t know anything specific because they’re not legally allowed to ask they would only know what’s required to approve it. please do what’s best for you. If you wait too long, you’re going to be doing some long term damage and then you’re not going to have any choice but to take time off of work and get treatment.

If that really is not an option, you could still do a medical detox at the hospital for a few days and just use vacation time so your work does not need to know about it. From there, you could contact your insurance company and find out what they cover for outpatient services. That way you could still work and get the treatment you need.

I am ready to help you. The people in your life know you're sick, but You are alive! The hardest thing is to take the medication that will keep you alive, I almost died from denying I was sick again when I stopped concerning myself about what they thought was my tipping place. They knew I knew so I did what I learned in AA years before surrender, please seek medical guidance it's very treatable (not curable) but the healing will begin when you follow the lifeline to people that love you for you unconditional.

No you going to need assistance. Cold turkey is not a good option. Alcohol is the worst drug to detox from. Is outpatient an option or can I ask where you reside I help you look for a place just private message

You can always go to an emergency room. If it's alcohol withdrawal, they have to admit you by law. You probably won't stay for more than a day or two, but they will make sure you get through the worst of it. After that, I would recommend an intensive outpatient program. That way you won't have to miss work to get help.

Hey Reno, sending you my thoughts. Many IOP programs are flexible with hours which could allow you to keep working. It does sound like you need actual detox though. It is dangerous to try going cold turkey if you’re shaking and getting sick. Please be safe.

I needed MAT (medically assisted treatment) 6 days inpatient where I was given medications to safely allow me to stop during and have no shaking or other side effects.

If you can do medical detox, that's definitely the way. I couldn't afford it so I weened myself off. I bought a few airplane bottles and would do shots like medicine, started at 6 a day, never more than 1 an hour, that became 4 to 5, one when I woke up, 1 4 hours later (or when I started feeling bad), another one later, and 1 before bed and sometimes 1 in the middle of the night... That turned into just 1 before bed and 1 a few hours after I woke up. That turned to 1 or 2 every other day, then twice a week, then I didn't have withdrawals. The only way I could do it was buy buying airplane bottles every day in small amounts so there wasn't any more in the house. But that can be dangerous.

Go to a meeting and share this information with them. Announce that you need a sponsor or temporary sponsor. Get phone numbers. How much do you want this? If you do you will do whatever it takes to work the program of recovery ❤️🩹

Contact AA Central office at (323) 396-0520. They will help you to get into detox residential or hooked up with someone in your area to talk to in person. Forget about what people think, you matter and you can get help that you need
