Sometimes we overthink it. If you can just sit quietly for a few minutes to start. Read something from your big book and ask God as you understand God to help you to hear a word or phrase and to help you to understand it especially for you. It will happen. Sometimes quickly sometimes slower but this guidance through meditation can be very powerful.

Try some of the refuge recovery or dharma recovery guided meditations available on their websites. They're good gateways to the practice. What's helpful is thinking to yourself "I have nowhere to be other than right here. I have nothing I must do. There is nothing I must change."

I'm glad. I can only share what works for me or what has worked for others and I tried too.
Remember meditation comes from within us. Early on it's easy to get overwhelmed by all the personal insight. I learned to take the most important tool insight gave me. Then to apply it to the most glaring current defect I was seeing in myself. A meeting often helps to confirm our insight... peace J
