I want to start meditate daily. I know it takes practice to make this habit and feel all benefits.
I have read today - “Meditation is a mortar that holds mind, body, and Spirit together”.
I love that.

I want to also I do a couple of times a week need to be more consistent
Exactly! Consistency is a key
I’m going to
Jane, meditation has many forms.
Meditation is where I sit quietly with God, the God I found in AA. I usually start with a prayer about surrendering my life and will again then I read the meditation. I think about what in the reading "touches" me with importance or hope strength or personal challenge to grow.
It's a time we can work toward centering ourselves in the Love which truly knows everything we have ever done. Yet Loves us deeply and with the Power and answers we so deeply need. I was scared about meditation b4 I started. But through my sponsor and a spiritual friend learned and grew. Supposedly it takes 2 weeks of at least 1 x a day to start a habit
Happy exploration it'll help
Hey, check out the podcast I use for meditation: Called First This. By Kathryn Nicolai. She’s super calming and yoga n meditation teacher for 20yrs?!
Sure does it like exercise for the mind
Keep it simple it takes time to develop your own understanding of your higher power
Prayer is asking for guidance and mediation is listening for the answers…
If you can do that, then you can certainly meditate! I started with ONE minute. Now I can do 20.
That is perfect. For years I would only pray, thinking mediation wasn’t my thing BUT then I was reminded the 11th Step says “sought through prayer AND mediation to improve our conscious contact with” the God of our choice. So I was only doing half of the 11th step, since doing both my sobriety has gotten much better.
It should be so easy to set aside 10 minutes a day to focus on my breath, yet I consistently fail to do it even though I’ve experienced the benefits.
Meditation is how I keep my mind at ease. I used to just run away from my thoughts but now I keep them in order through meditation. If I don't know what I want to meditate with it's as easy as a quick YouTube search to find my daily.
Yeah really want to get started meditating but I not sure what works or what to do any good websites or information
Have you tried Insight app? That’s amazing tool
Michael I love that!
Thank you. I love sharing such things but my alcoholic head tells me I’m a weirdo for praying AND meditating, as though “men” should not do such things and just fight through it all. So thank you for acknowledging it all.
Anything worthwhile does.
David, thank you.
Jane N., I was just about to suggest yes, Insight Timer.
Gonna check that app today.
Davidji is a teacher I like, appreciate. His guided meditations help me.
Also.
Tara Brach.
So many great teachers and resources out there!
I am trying to be more consistent and not rely so much on apps and guided meditations-while those do help me.
I also “ report “ to my cousin…he is my accountability buddy / brother.
My mom taught yoga, pre-pandemic and my younger sibling meditates as well.
I am fortunate to have friends and family who serve as examples.
All the best to you, everyone here!
