I want to start the AA journey. I’ve been to

I want to start the AA journey. I’ve been to meetings before but I’ve never done the steps. Can I start with any meeting or do I have to start with the newcomers or beginners meeting? How do I find a sponsor? I want to get more serious about my steps.

Any meeting will do. I was told to do 90 meetings in 90 days. That really helped me understand the meeting format and find a sponsor.

Any meeting you find that feels comfortable. As far as finding a sponsor, ask a woman that you vibe well with and has a good understanding of the program. If there is a woman’s group near you, that would also be a great resource. You will know when it feels right asking someone to sponsor you. Stay involved in the meetings. Share if you feel it. I agree with Matt, 90 in 90 is a good idea. Follow the advice, or suggestions if you ask for them. You will be just fine!

You can meet some really good people in AA. Good for you for recognizing something needs to change.

Its amazing when we as new comers realize the brilliance waiting to be brought to the surface. Its a spiritual awakening coming into the rooms

Start with reading "The Doctor's Opinion " in The Big Book, do 90 in 90, get a sponsor immediately (you can always get a new one any time, without regret, if it's not working) pay attention to the the people who suit up and show up but don't get caught up in controversy and don't drink no matter what! Try different meetings until you get a sponsor...BUT GET A SPONSOR!

You absolutely can go to a beginner meeting. And a big book meeting. And a meditation meeting.
