I was able to open up to my therapist today about a huge childhood trauma that has been a major contributing factor to my depression, anxiety, PTSD, & alcoholism. It was a gigantic step for me. Today has been very difficult, but I stayed sober. I know I will definitely need to be kind to myself, especially these next few months. I know it will be worth it in the long run, but in this moment, it’s very painful. I hope you all had a peaceful Thursday.
Being open and honest is the best therapy I’ve ever had.
That’s awesome! Good for you!
Though certainly painful, that sounds awesome. Now you get a chance to renegotiate that past traumatic experience, and come to terms with it. Hope your therapist can guide you to a position of power and confidence.
Finding a therapist that I finally felt safe with is a huge reason why I finally feel able to start tackling this trauma. She’s an absolute angel. She’s also been sober for 32 years, so she has so much wisdom & insight.
That’s fantastic! Finding a good therapist is really difficult! Happy to hear you found someone you clicked with.
That’s awesome. You must feel like a new person with that load lessening. Hope it continues to get better. Have a great weekend
We're only as sick as our secrets. Glad to hear you found someone with whom you can confide.
