I was sober for 10 years and I was okay till I moved into all black neighborhood with loud music fighting stealing and people up all night long party like this was the club we lived at:face_with_raised_eyebrow:I really hate and despise this neighborhood I don't have no room to grow every time I try not to drink something happen that make me so mad that I have to have a drink just to calm my nerves down:dizzy_face:💫I recently ran into a neighbor that stays where I live at and she's a bootlegger and her daughter had passed away so I started spending a little time with her and got back to drinking again now I have to find a way to tell her to go away so I can move on and stay on my sobriety:dizzy_face:
every time I start doing good somebody throw a rock at me and make me fall right back down,
I'm not trying to throw no pity party but I did break my arm a week ago so I'm in pain and wine makes me sleepy:woozy_face:a good pain reliever:pill: hope this helps somebody be safe
Maybe it's not your intention but your post screams that you blame Black people because you relapsed. I'm sorry you're struggling. But that's not a person or group of people's responsibility.
I'm new on this app and I appreciate your comment but I don't have to explain why I relapsed I was just commenting where I stay at just getting a little stressed off my mind just rambling on about my thoughts I wasn't really trying to make a statement so I don't feel like I have to explain, this ain't about no blame it's just about me writing something on this page to make myself feel better I could have been writing about sea donkeys it wouldn't matter, but thank you for your comment
I have lived in the projects I know how that goes. It sucks but let’s try that’s all we can do
Well said Tori! I appreciate the way handled your reply. Made your point, and still showed love, tolerance and support. Let’s all get healthy
❤🩹
I appreciate your comment and I lived in low income projects all my life just can't get enough money to get out to live where I want to😐but it's better to have a roof over your head then sitting out on the sidewalk
After 10 years of sobriety you might be able to reflect back to the beginning of your journey.what did you do then that you aren't doing now?
Your location doesn't mean you have to allow your program to change.a home is a home no matter where the location is.you make your home what you want it to be,not your neighbors. My impression from your post is a lot of finger pointing and not accepting your role in the situation.i personally don't describe a neighborhood by color or status.those are personal choices.there are many other ways to share your story without outdated and offensive stereotyping of others.your story is important to be shared and to be heard. it may be helpful to you and others to share your role in the situation you chose to put yourself in and your goal to overcome it.
That's how I want to live life. Yes, we're on the app interacting regularly but we don't know each other. I never want to pass poor judgment on someone over 1 interaction. We have bad days, have different experiences, etc. Those experiences shape who we are.
I appreciate your comment.
I never said that you had to explain why you relapsed. But you said that you were sober and OK until you moved in a Black neighborhood. If you weren't pointing fingers at your Black neighbors I couldn't understand why that had to be pointed out. It probably wasn't your intention as my first comment stated. I wanted to explain how it came across.
Again, I'm sorry you're struggling, and hope you get the support you need. I could not imagine being sober as long as you have and then losing it. I'm only on year 3 and hope to make it 10 years like you.
I never said I was a professional writer and and the things I want to say about where I live at I wouldn't say in front of decent people. My environment got a lot to do with my addiction especially when you got liquor stores on every corner every grocery store carries wine and beer and alcohol but thank everybody I enjoy your comments very helpful
It's no big deal to be sober for 10 years cuz I don't like drinking in the first place only did it when I was hanging around family and friends or partying or something just to pass the time away sometimes I wouldn't drink for a month two weeks it depends my mood
this is my first time on this app and I'm not no hero or try to play drinking down because I know it's a serious illness. I had a little nervous breakdown when my mother died I also has to deal with depression so I got a lot on my plate
. Thank everyone for their advice:hugs: be safe
I'm sorry for your loss. It's painful to lose a parent.
If you can’t explain why you relapsed then you will never stay clean I don’t look at the color of people because my recovery is my responsibility you can blame whoever you want but the bottom line is you picked up the drug nobody hold a gun to your head and made you use so I hope you’re fine a better neighborhood to live in because where never you go your disease is right there with you.I wish you a slow recovery. I wish you really take a deep look at why you relapsed people places and things plays a big part of staying clean I know this for a fact.
Walter H 22 years Clean and Sober
Oof… this might not be it. I agree with Walter, your recovery needs to be your responsibility. I’m sorry that you moved into an unsafe living situation, but the demographics of other people aren’t your scapegoat for relapsing.
Staying clean for 10 years is great but you missed something. It’s two ways you can stay clean you can either stay abstinent or you can stay clean and work a program and have recovery. I don’t know which one you lived in your 10 years of being clean so I Suggest that you look at the whole picture and change it a day at a time wishing you the best
