I died this week. I was at the gym this Wednesday, my usual routine I do every week. I was in the shower after a nice sauna and my lungs started hurting like the sauna burned my lungs. I though I was coming down with Covid and my lungs were sensitive to the heat of the sauna. 20 minutes later my heart stopped and I was getting shocked on the floor of the club manager’s office. Paramedics brought me back and loaded me up in the ambulance. I developed a blood clot in an artery that feeds the ventricles of my heart. This cardiac event is called a widow maker because most people don’t survive it. The cardiologists ran a catheter up my arm into my heart and removed the clot and placed a stent in the damaged part of my left anterior descending artery. This is the exact same thing that happened to Bob Harper the trainer from The biggest loser. Now, Life without alcohol seems like such a small and stupid thing to stress about in contrast to what I’m facing. I have always done things to the extreme. But I eat healthy, get good sleep and I do value my health. My friends are all shocked that this could happen to me. I can only assume all the years of going hard caught up with me. The cardiologists said this is genetic and was 49 years in the making. There is very little I could have done to prevent it, I only delayed it with good

Wow, you are meant to be on this planet
It’s not your time. Glad you’re ok.
I actually went through that emotion on the way home from the hospital. As I looked out over the town I live in, I had this visceral feeling of I’m not really supposed to see this again. If I had been out on a bike ride I would have died for sure.
So glad that you are okay JR! What a blessing to still be here! Sending you some speedy recovery!
