I will be having surgery on my left foot in early November. I will be out of commission for 3 months. I am nervous.
Take that time to work on a closer relationship with your Higher Power and perhaps some service work with newcomers. In other words, keep your mind off yourself so depression doesn't creep in during your surgical recovery.
Why are you nervous
Too much time alone has usually been a dangerous thing for me. Obviously, I won’t be out and about, but being alone for so long will be a challenge.
Jay, I will definitely take that time to connect with whomever needs a friend. Also, I’ll be working to find my higher power. I struggle with that still.
Because they’re opening my foot, taking stuff out and putting a metal plate in with screws. Then, I can’t walk for 3 weeks. Then I’m on crutches for 2 more months. I have to rely on two people who are usually away for 12 hours a day.
That’s why I’m nervous
I get why you’re nervous. That’s a lot of down time recovering from surgery, a lot of time alone with your thoughts. Spend that time however you can helping others, building your relationship with your higher power and staying busy, focused on your sobriety. Try to look at it as an opportunity to grow stronger! Prayers for quick healing and peace of mind and soul🙏
