Well i thought i was ok and able to drink socially and not do to much. But i cant and i need to be sober
It takes a lot of courage to admit that. What matters is you’re here now and choosing sobriety. Take it day by day and sometimes it might be moment by moment. Message anytime.
I know exactly how you feel. I’m a little over 2 months sober but this time is different because I have no intention of drinking again. Turns out I’m an all or nothing gal. It’s really tough at first but staying sober for today has been a helpful mentality. You can do today.
Another helpful thought… I’ve never met someone who regrets their sobriety. You can do this!!!
Maddie…… seriously, what are you doing for your sobriety?
I love my sobriety I need to start my steps and I understand today that it’s about following the program it’s amazing how I hear so many positive people share thank you God for another day
Nothing yet, just got told my family I need to be sober
Admitting you’re an alcoholic is a start., I wouldn’t call that nothing., so glad you’re here and you reached out., we’re all here to support you on this journey…
Get back on that horse and keep on riding. We are all going to make it as long as we move forward
If you want to get sober then it’s time to get busy.
This is what I did…..
Two weeks of detox from drugs & alcohol. Was placed in a 5 month treatment center. Definitely a gift from God.
Went to an AA meeting everyday the first year. Sometimes twice a day.
Found a sponsor and thoroughly worked through all 12 steps. Then started sponsoring.
Read the Big Book & 12 n 12. Found a God of my understanding.
Prayer and meditation every morning and night…..On my knees.
Never went under 3 meetings a week after the first year. Joined Alanon to heal and learn how to have relationships.
Joined a fabulous church and began serving in a ministry there.
That was over 30 years ago and I continue to sponsor and carry the message to those still sick and suffering.
You CAN do this too. Surrender. Cease fighting anyone and anything. If you’re serious, you will take the first step to begin healing and getting well.
Best wishes.
Congrats on reaching out. I’m in the same boat as you. Not sober yet though, by trying everyday and starting to take it more seriously. Telling someone feels big. Let’s make this a fresh start! Full of good mornings, feeling proud and all the other great stuff. Message me if you want an accountability buddy.
