I was a drunk for 45 years! When I was 59 I finally got it. I had to let go and do Gods will, not mine. I found a wonderful meeting where I became AA friends with. I now look forward to going to o my meeting everyday. And I feel free of that 100lb weight on my chest. Never ever give up

I had a 36 year relationship with alcohol. I tried for over 7 years to get sober and had all but given up. I made the decision 12/29/20 to go into treatment and I've been sober a whole year now. I NEVER thought it would work, but I finally surrendered and here I am. Don't give up! If I can do it, you can do it! Sending lots of hope to you!

Hi. AA got me sober after a couple of relapses. I am now 10 years 2 months sober. Get to an AA meeting, any meeting, and just listen. You can raise your hand and share , or not. What you can do is ask for help and say you’ve been trying to get sober for a long time and you cannot. We’ve all been in your shoes having a hard time getting sober. You’ll be surprised at how many people will reach out and offer help. This is a WE program. You cannot do this alone. My suggestion is do not pick up a drink today and go to a meeting. I go to a meeting tomorrow, and the next day,… Things will get better but you must put the work in to do so. Stay safe, do not pick up, and go to a meeting. My life right now is very very good. It is not perfect but I know that if I pick up everything I’ve gotten back and accomplished will go away.

I have been a recovering drunk for most of my life Jeffrey and I am spending New Year’s Eve in a sober living. It could be worse my friend. Stay sober for your family and for yourself. Good luck man!!

No matter what, giving up is not n option. It doesn’t matter how many times u fall, just get back up!! I would constantly say that 2 myself cause I’m still n denial. I would think 2 myself, that I wanna give up however, I remembered that somebody was looking & he needs my!! I’ll keep u n my prayers!!

I am reminded of a riddle , every time I see someone struggling with getting sober. " how you you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."
Sobriety is a monumental task, that can only be done one day, one hour, one minute, or sometimes one second at a time.

I too have been trying to get sober and have now not had a drink in two years. If I can you can too. Hang in there

I tried to quit for fifteen years. I finally sucked it up and went to treatment. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it.

Treatment is gold!! A freakin gift!!:slightly_smiling_face:

Need to talk to someone

Can someone call?

The fact that you are asking for help means you haven't given up. Everytime you drink, you're believing THE LIE.; That this time it will be ok. But it never is, is it? I went to detox, went to AA meetings everyday for a couple of years. Got a sponsor,, Took the 12 steps of AA. That was 7 1/2 years ago.

If you're looking for a free ride, there aren't any!

Taking action is what works!

You have to just stick to it. Make your mind up and go for it. After those first few days I wouldn't say that it necessarily gets easier but you start learning more and more tactics each day to help you get by to the next

If your not doing it .do it get in do action.and keep it up .aa. Org / celebrate recovery.look on line .lots of help.and be number one.:+1::dromedary_camel:
