I work in close proximity to the store I get my substance from, even passing it on a regular basis. Even with everything I stand to lose, i cannot seem to fight the draw to use. Does anyone have a similar situation?
Yes definitely close for me as well...I its tough
Beth I feel your pain. I am a Purchasing Manager for a Resort here in Orlando Florida and my office is in the liquor storeroom. I know it is hard because I am surrounded by temptation all day. I have been 2 months clean from alcohol. Finding someone to talk too and get involved in meetings is always a good start. If you want to talk you can reach out to me anytime.
It's close to me as well. The way I think of is that it's not worrying, it's concerning. Because I'm not worried that I'll pick up and ruin my sobriety I'm concerned by the proximity of it.
Mine is a grocery store that has a large alcohol section. For me sometimes I have to enter through the other side so that I don't even see the liquor section.
Sometimes I even block my face as I walk by it because I have to get to something in that area and every time I do, I feel better.
I feel better knowing that I went to the store I didn't give in to my addiction, and I got out buying what I needed. And this is not an easy feat. Before I couldn't even enter a location that was selling my DOC.
This does get easier, this does get better, and you have to keep trying,. I wish you the best of luck and strength
I just passed my 3 months, Mark. You can reach out anytime as well. Congratulations
Beth, I had to get and stay real close to the AA/NA program until I was strong enough. I went to in person meetings early morning every day before work. Night meetings too.
I couldn’t win on my own. I needed the power of the sober fellowship and the 12 steps were tremendous help.
I’m here if you want to talk
Yes, but then I'd play the tape forward and it was enough to remember why I started. Hold on it gets better
Mee too but it will get easier
