Idk what to do about my situation… therapy is soon, but I also have a really bad eating disorder that goes along with my sugar addiction.

We work on one addiction and we find out another one showed up. When you read the label, see what the serving size is start there. Also find something that would stay in your mouth longer like a popsicle. And just for fun every time you go into the kitchen do 10 jumping jacks before you eat.

Oh uh, okay.. I already exercise a lot tho…

Great that you have gotten to the point that you’re ready to deal with it. We addicts spend so many years running from ourselves, and destroying ourselves while we do so. Therapy is a great start. I can’t help but recommend a 12 step group, as the program and fellowship have been a life changer. Either way, get help. It’s going to be a process. Don’t judge yourself to harshly. There will be many small victories and defeats along the path. The one day at a time philosophy works wonders. It’s something you will have to be mindful of every day (aka a daily program). The recovery journey will slowly transform your life

There are many support groups out there with like minded people facing the same afflictions. Look up over eaters anonymous and find your people. Get the support you so deserve. Love you have a great day!

Can I ask what type of eating disorder? I’ve struggled with both binge eating and anorexia in the past along with substance addictions.

Ok no jumping jack. Hug someone before you eat. Make it fun. Hugs from me

In treatment I was told often to be patient and take things slow and steady. For example, I am addicted to alcohol and stimulants, have dual diagnoses, and disordered eating behavior. I tackled the most dangerous issues first and when I became more confident with my sobriety, I will begin working on my nutrition. Mental health will greatly improve with those things being controlled more effectively giving me a better sense of what I need. Restricting myself from too much at once is a path to relapse. In NA we say, “give yourself a break.” You’re doing a great job. Reaching out to support and recognizing your patterns is a huge step. Celebrate your small victories as they grow into the bigger ones. I’m proud of hou

Binge eating, anorexia, orthorexia, avoidant/ restrictive and bad body dysmorphia.

You have to want & ask for it to be removed...and just stay you. Watch your habits change. It's free will.

Not sure what else you struggle with, but for me personally, I am tackling one addiction at a time. In the past, the only thing that truly fixed my binge eating / sugar addiction was going on a keto diet. I can give you more information on that if you want.

It’s good to hear you have therapy lined up. One step at a time, and it’s okay to feel overwhelmed. You’re reaching out, and that’s a big deal. Just keep taking care of yourself as best as you can. It’s a slow process but worth it in the end.
