Find yourself in a real dark place. PLEASE PLEASE reach out for help.
This morning I caught wind that an individual I got sober with took his life over the weekend. He had just accomplished 38 years of sobriety. Granted I knew of him and didn't really get a chance to know him my heart goes out to his family.
The back side to how our paths crossed is that in early 1988 I had arrested him for driving under the influence of alcohol. Our paths crossed again when I went to my first AA meeting. He recognized me where I didn't even know who he was. Yet he thanked me for the night we encountered each other. We really didn't communicate with each other outside of the meetings we saw each other at. A mutual friend of ours called me this morning to keep me informed of what happened.
This is sad to hear as it is to share it with you all, my Loosid famBAMMily.
So I plead with you to start reaching out to those in your sobriety circle and share what's going on in your life. If you can't share your deepest and darkest feelings with them then reach out to me. There is I reason, for some of you, why I have given you my phone number. I get it after all this is the Internet. There are some really questionable people out there. I am NOT one of them.
Deep down inside, even if I think you're a knucklehead, I do care about you and your sobriety.
Please be safe and reach out to others, whether it is here on this platform or through direct messages.
