If you lost sole physical custody of your child or children to drinking, and are since sober and have regained the sole physical custody piece, how long did it take?
It’s been almost two years since I lost primary physical custody. After multiple court dates, hearings, etc., I now see my son unsupervised three days a week, but he still lives primarily with dad.
im sorry your going thru this tough time. your not even aloud to see your children even with a moderator who like watches over ? my friend was aloud to see her kids after 6 months of sobriety but she was also never married… idk about you but i think that might have added to her seeing them sooner. Also, doing community service helped my friend too and showed she was willing to give back to the neighborhood!!

Hi! No I have unsupervised visitation overnight every Thursday - Saturday, but I previously had sole physical custody. Now his father has physical custody and I am the noncustodial parent. The goal is to be at least 50/50 physical custody. I am so close to that, but am waiting on getting enough funds for my own apartment for the both of us. Right now I live with family so I can’t go for 50/50 custody until my son has his own bedroom.
you made it seem like you hadn’t had psychical connect with your kids in 2 YEARS dude… haha ok we’ll get that place of your own girl !! you got this stay motivated stay strong

I went back to court for custody modification - I wanted to relay to my son that I will fight for him & that just because you’ve been through some bad stuff & made bad decisions does NOT make you a bad person & we can change & be better than ever before
Congrats on your sobriety! You are doing amazing! I’m sure it feels like it’s taking forever, but don’t lose sight of how far you have come. You are putting in the work and getting closer ODAAT. The most important thing is that you get to show your kids that you love and care for them. You are blessed to have that chance today. Your story is still in the beginning chapters. You now have the choice to write the next chapter. I got a good feeling that it’s going to be beautiful

Thank you. I tend to place linear expectations on things, and realize that things just don’t work like that most of the time. Page 417 - acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. Thank you
