If you only read one thing I’ve written, make it this one.

Sobriety removes the thing that is killing you. It does not automatically answer the question of who you are without it.

For a long time, addiction was not just something I did. It was someone I knew how to be.

This piece is about the loss of that identity, the grief of leaving behind what was familiar, and the work of building a life that is actually yours.
