“If you’re not in recovery you are relapsing”

“If you’re not in recovery, you are relapsing” has been told to me many times and it’s very true… but I just can’t bring myself to give sobriety a chance. Maybe the counselor was right about rehab…

There's also a mountain of evidence showing your life would be better if you were clean & sober. I hope you continue to attend the AA /NA meetings. Listen for the similarities, not the differences. It's much easier to accept all this when we realize we're not alone in our struggles. I also suggest doing the 20 & 20. Get to meetings 20 min early & stay 20 min late. You'll meet the people working strong programs & they can tell you how they got clean & sober.
I really hope you'll consider working this program, at least for a while. It works if we work it. Alcoholism & addiction is suicide on the installment plan. You have nothing to lose & everything to gain by just showing a little willingness.

Rehab saved my life. I needed a reset away from it and the booze. It’s nothing to be afraid of for sure. I got a whole new perspective about my addiction. I came out more knowledgeable, humble, and determined. My brain slowed down and pieces started coming together. I had a moment of surrender in there that changed the game. Sobriety is worth it. It’s a struggle early no doubt. You can’t get to smooth seas, until you push past the breakers.

I feel like you are going to get it bud. You are telling yourself a lot of truth, but I sensing that you have that other voice saying that there is still some way to figure out how to use and function. That voice is lying to you. Listen to your heart, my friend.:slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the encouragement! Much appreciated for sure. Gotta trust in what feels like the right choice more often

Hi Vic, perhaps things are not so black and white. It seems as if you do want to make change- I would consider that progress.

Vic, hi. Remember responding to a post of yours a few weeks back ( ? ) - we were each asking others about intake, rehab, etc. I made many, many calls - I do not qualify for inpatient. I am closing in on a month of sobriety this time around. Vic, I am taking this moment by moment. I should attend more meetings while I check apps, sites including this one of course. When I have an impulse, craving-I think of the morning a bit over three weeks ago where I so badly wanted to crawl out of my own skin and just never have to feel like such a pathetic loser. I am not a pathetic loser, it was that idiotic poison trying to kill me on all levels yet again. Let’s keep checking in, Vic. I am taking this moment by moment. I wish you each the best.
