If you’re strong enough I’d appreciate some help

I once had 5 months of sobriety not too long ago and somehow believed I needed a relapse to be able to move on in my recovery, but oh man was I wrong. I relapsed and after a week long binge I knew I had to go to detox, so after that I went to an outpatient program and I relapsed again mostly because I can’t stop craving it and I had to bring my dad into detox. I also lost my mother to alcoholism and so I think I’ve just been really triggered lately. I just need advice on how to begin again in sobriety and my recovery and how to stay strong.

Give your struggle to your higher power. Ask for direction. Don't do it your way. Do it his way

Listen I can relate to most of what you said. I wasn’t strong enough or at least that’s what I told myself. I had 6 years before relapsing. I lost my son and relapsed. It took me another 6 years to come back. I went to rehab in may got out 30 days later relapsed after two weeks. I went to detox in October and I decided to stay in rehab. I made that decision because I wasn’t strong enough by myself. I have now been in a residential treatment facility for 4 months now. I tell you I am a lot stronger than I once was. But I am only as strong as the ppl I surround myself with. That includes this community here and outside of here. I couldn’t stop craving myself so I removed myself from society to relieve some of those strong cravings. I still have an urge here and there but I gravitate towards this app and just read some posts. By the time I’m done reading that craving has passed

I finally wanted it.
Which means the pain and the fear and self pitty wasn't a good enough excuse anymore. Sobriety became worth the fight! Decide to fight!!!!

Keep trying. It might take a few times but it will happen. Don’t give up on yourself. You have to change your life, your surroundings, your friends, your job etc.

Do whatever you have to do to make it happen. That’s the only way. You are worth the work.

The worst thing I hear is "relapse is part of recovery". That is a lack of recovery not part of any program. It sounds like you found this out the hard way.
I would strongly suggest you immerse yourself into a recovery support group & do whatever is asked. This disease is suicide on the installment plan. But there is a solution if you are willing to put in the work. I wish you the best as you re-start your sober journey.
