I'm 2 days out of rehab and messed up already. I don't know why I keep going through this cycle. Hopefully this is a place that will help me on my journey.
Don't beat yourself up. Try AA. You can do it! ODAAT
Thank you. I will try my best.
Hang in there Desmond. Post often and let us know how you’re doing. Lots of good support here.
Don’t beat up on yourself, bud.. some of us don’t get it the first, second, or even tenth try, but I’ve always been told to keep coming back. Going to meetings is helpful. Find AA or NA meetings, and just keep going.. you can do this!!
I can say from experience that this app does help! You can find an amazing community of support. You found a safe place so stick with it! You got this Desmond
.
Don't beat yourself up. I've been there before and then realized I needed to change who I was around and talking to even what park I went to. I find meetings helpful weather CA NA AA CMA keep fighting for you figure out your triggers and set up a coping skills
Props for trying your best man! We don’t always succeed the first time, but you’re trying and that’s what it’s all about
Hang in there Desmond. It's hard but everyday gets easier. It took me a long time to get sober. Don't stop making the effort, get you a strong support system. Find a higher power!!! I believe in you!!!
Meetings help me a lot! You're not alone!
I just drank again last night and I hate myself for it. Build a shrine for yourself. Write down things you like about yourself now, things you liked about yourself when you were a kid, and write thank you notes from your future self thanking your current self for getting through this bullshit. Then put all of that writing up on a wall so that when you feel like drinking or using you can look at that wall and imagine your future self being grateful that you didn't drink or use. That's what I'm doing rn and it's helping
Keep trying and don't give up! Have you tried additional support after rehab? Sober living, AA or NA meetings, therapy, craving medication, support groups, etc. These could give additional assistance.
I recently left rehab after 37 days. To be honest, I didn't trust that on my own I would stay sober. I searched and confirmed a bed at a sober living facility before I was discharged from rehab. I also take craving meds. That was my recovery plan. It has helped me stay on the right track. Work on a plan that suits you. Keep pushing forward. I hope this helps.
Using and drinking is our natural state. The fact you are still trying to get sober is commendable. Long term accountability is what helped me. Treatment then halfway house.
Hey, I did the same thing. Remember everything you learned while in rehab and those days do count!!
Desmond - first rehab I went to i relapse within two hours - I then returned to different one 3 months later - my reflection is the second one differed from
Oops the first - the second was dual diagnosis and focused on the why - which got to the root been straight a year next month. The first saved my life the second was the start of the recovery - never give up
The first was a washing machine !
Please try not to beat yourself up about it. I have been there more times then I would want to say. Stay strong!
Desmond, everyday is a new day. One hour at a time...you can do this, I promise. I was on opiates for 24 years and have been in recovery for 20 months. Some nights and days are much harder than others, but I hope and pray to never trip up and fall back in that pit. But if I did, I know the tools that I need to climb back out. NA, the people in this group, and constantly praying to God for strength.
I pray the same for you.
A relapse is not the end of the world! I bought alcohol on my way home from rehab and drank the bottle before leaving the parking lot. I had to change people places and things and moved back in with my parents for support. Do whatever it takes to stay clean and sober! Go to meetings, find a sponsor, make sober friends. I just relapsed a week ago and I felt so guilty but I’m clean today and that’s all that matters. One day sober is an accomplishment!
