Im 3 days sober, but my best friend is not

Im 3 days sober, but my best friend is not. He's my favorite person... and he needs help. I don't know what to do. Everytime we talk about getting sober he vents for awhile then ends up ignoring it all and goes back to the same shit....tips?

Worry about yourself. We can't control people, places or things. If you stay sober & he sees how good your life is getting, he will want what you have.

I agree with Steve. Take care of yourself and model the behavior. Most likely he will see the positive changes in your life and want what you have.

We have to get sober for us. After that, others may follow, or they may not. That’s not our problem. Can’t set yourself on fire to keep somebody else warm.

Find a new friend.move on.

You really need to focused on healing yourself. You are the company you keep. The first thing I had to do was be 100% committed to cutting ties with those who use. It’s also important to have quality recovery. The whole “dry drunk” philosophy. I write 10 reasonable goals I’d like to accomplish down on a piece of paper every morning and reflect on them. If you can get driven by a goal and really try to desire that goal things will be amazing. When you get sober you find out who your real friends are.

I love that, "can't set yourself on fire to keep somebody else warm. " I wish I would have thought of it that way a long time ago, it would have saved me some trouble.
