I'm back again... and back at day 1... again. Im so disappointed in myself. I was doing well and then my Aunt passed away and I used that as an excuse to drink. How horrible. I'm once again risking the best relationship I've ever had. He has done everything to support my sobriety. Now it's my turn. To try EVERYTHING to STAY SOBER. Even if admitting I'm an alcoholic is the most embarrassing, shameful thing I've had to admit.
I'm sorry about your Aunt I know you miss her
I understand it's very shameful but it's okay
Welcome back. Do your best. Forget the past. Stay in today and lol forward to the future, soberly.
It is shameful. I always make excuses and lie to myself to try and justify why I'm drinking. There is NO good reason to drink. Especially in my case because once I drink, its more often then not that I drink far too much. I have put my bf through so much in the last 3 years... not cheating but tickets, and one incident where I got woke up to the cops knocking on my car window after I blacked out and parked on the lawn at my apt complex. Luckily I didn't get arrested but my bf had to come get me and walk me to our place and help the cops push my car off the lawn. After all of that and I messed up again. I want to nip this in the bud before I end up in jail, hurting myself, hurting someone else or losing any and everything I've worked so hard for.
Thank you for the welcome back. I do struggle with staying in the day and worrying about the what is and maybes of sobriety. I have a supportive and loving family, boyfriend and friends. I have all of the tools to get and stay sober! I've done it before and I'll do it again, but actually STAY sober. I'm even seeking out medical help. I need help with coping with loss and maybe a new medicine for my mental issues because I find I'm drinking to help with being happy and quieting my negative thoughts.
For me (and I’ve heard a lot from others) the only mental issue I needed to deal with was my alcoholism. Once I got sober I found out I didn’t drink because I had all the mental problems (depression, anxiety). I had all of the mental problems, because of my drinking. It is a disease that baffles and bewilders us. Because it is a disease it’s not our fault, but it is our responsibility. It’s only shameful, if we do nothing about it.
This is a good listen. The Doctors Opinion would be another.
Thank you for sharing. You’ve given me inspiration to start again.
I did notice when I have long periods of sobriety I don't have to take my medication everyday. A big goal in my life is to stop taking them all together and I KNOW long-term (for me, forever) sobriety is the way to go. I really appreciate your input!
