I'm done, what's the point of trying when even the younger people are looking up to u. The poor people, we always end up being criminals or drug addiction zombies! We rely on people who don't give up on us!
Here are my two favorite things I heard when I was in rehab. “Addiction is giving up everything for one thing, Recovery is giving up one thing for everything” That one was a pretty powerful statement to me. My other favorite one was “Addiction is in the parking lot doing push-ups right now” In other words if you want to beat what’s been beating you up to this point then you can’t ever stop trying and working your hardest because you’re addiction is staying in shape and ready to run you down the moment you get weak. Every relapse isn’t a failure it’s just another lesson learned on what you need to fix or avoid to get better. You may need to consider getting in treatment help though because every relapse is like playing Russian roulette with your life. It’s scary to think but true that any one time could be our last. Sending you love and support
I love that quote. I have been struggling to keep sober. Two weeks ago my sister died suddenly. She was only 37. This is the first major thing I’ve had to deal with sober. It would be so easy just to numb it.
I’m really sorry to hear that Julie. I know just what you mean. I’ve been numb for the past 13-14 years but awake and feeling again for a couple months now. Granted there are things We’d like not to we’ve all been running and hiding too long. It’s time to experience the good AND the bad in life no matter how much it hurts because that’s what life is and makes us who we truly are. Everything else is like a poisonous cheat code that helps us beat it quicker but also brings us to the end just as quickly. You’re amazing for dealing with such a horrible thing and not taking the easy way out. You’re my inspiration for today.
