I'm drinking myself to death. Dr. Gave me one more

I'm drinking myself to death. Dr. Gave me one more shot before I have to be committed to inpatient. Anybody got any advice before I throw in the towel?

Have you ever been to a Alcoholic s Anonymous Meeting; you can download the App and it shows you where the nearest and next meeting is located.

I am just starting my sober journey so I’m by no means an expert, but some things that have been working for me are making lists of what alcohol gives my life vs takes away, listening to podcasts or audiobooks of other people’s experiences, and reconnecting with nature. Any form of body movement always helps me too, even if it’s just walking or stretching, and reaching out to friends or family who you feel comfortable talking to. Good luck, you’re stronger than you think!!

Find a A.A. meeting and go.

Go to inpatient. You need to chemically balance yourself in addition to seeking AA.

You’re not throwing in the towel. You’re getting up and brushing off your knees. Accepting that you need help isn’t throwing in the towel. Being sick and tired of being sick and tired is not throwing in the towel. You’re choosing to live and your life is just beginning.

Yes I agree with the majority here… go to inpatient asap!

I'm a week away from 6 months sober but as everyone else us suggesting, going to inpatient was the best for me. You then have the ability to just focus on you as the provider will take care of food, shelter, groups. The pause you get will take pressure off your mind to plan your next step.

I would give yourself the opportunity to go to detox, then do PHP, and then IOP it is worth it. Then go to meetings and get a sponsor. Get a home group, work, the steps, and recover one day at a time.

Thank you so much for sharing. Proud of you.

Don’t take that chance. Go to impatient.

Go to rehab.

I resisted going to inpatient, and my drinking and overall situation just got worse and worse. At a certain point it's the only way to get help, hope you find the right place to get the help you need.

Definitely go to inpatient
