I'm grateful for God, my sobriety, listened to Alanon phone meeting this morning, listened to Alanon Zoom meeting during lunch, went to a AA meeting tonight!
Hi! I’m just curious, what is an Alanon meeting like?
It's a detachment and keeping the focus on you.
Oh okay, am I wrong in thinking that’s a kind of support group for family members and people who have loved ones that are addicts and alcoholics?
Not wrong @ all, that's what I'm detaching from.
Oh! Nice, okay. I have family I can’t or don’t necessarily want to detach from but they have absolutely no idea how to handle my addiction and while I suppose their intentions are good they just make things worse and harder on me and themselves and I can literally only handle focusing and fighting for my recovery. It’d be nice if they could go to a meeting like that or even if I did and got some tips to give them! Haha. I didn’t know they had them online, I might look into them, thank you. This is also probably way more information than you needed sorry lol
Go for yourself Amanda, you don't realize how much you are taking in from your loved ones and how it's affecting you.
I appreciate that! Because I am just constantly reminded of how much I’ve put them through and how bad it was before but I have apologized and I literally cannot do anything else but move forward and do everything that I’m doing now to try to make sure it never happens again, but them constantly bringing me down is just so counterproductive. So I think I will try one, thank you again!
