I'm grateful for the gifts of sobriety (Part 1)

As I sit here in an aircraft some 35,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean, I can't explain how grateful I am to escort one of my sponsees to Maui and witness him take his 15 year chip in the same location where he got sober.

Fifteen years ago he made a promise to stop drinking and sober up.

15 years ago I promised him that if he stays consistent with his sobriety and with this program I'd pay to bring him back to collect his chip and take him to dinner.

Well here we are. On our way to Maui. Granted it's a quick turnaround trip ... It's proof that if you stick with the program and stay true to your word, the gifts of, not only the promises, sobriety WILL come true.

Aloha from the friendly skies ...
