I'm having a rough time today! I'm new to this sober living house and I don't have a job yet so all I do is sit around this house doing nothing. The weather has been bad so I can't even go for a run or work out to take my mind off of wanting to say screw it and just go get as high as I possibly can but I know now finally after all these years that even if I do that all my problems will still be here after I get high. So I'm going to sit still and eventually it will pass. But it's just so hard standing at the base of this enormous mountain that I know I have to climb to get to the other side where I want to be but it seems like life won't allow me to even get started on my journey and that has been a very tough pill to swallow today.
Thanks for listening to my poor pitiful me story. I know we all have our own problems and mountains to climb so again thanks for letting me vent.
Just keep doing what you're doing! There's a lot to gain from sitting still! As long as you're staying sober and not getting high, them it's not considered sitting still! It's good to vent like this as well, keeping it inside can be detrimental. That's what we are here for! You'll get lots of great advice from reaching out like this! Be patient and keep doing what your doing! You're doing an awesome job! Surround yourself with like minded people! Keep on keeping on! It's gets better, I promise! Prayers for strength, peace and serenity for you!
Thank you I needed to hear that .
Thanks to all sometimes it just helps to hear from someone that truly cares even if they don't know you
You got this , I was having a really bad morning too and to know someone else was having a bad day as well
I’ve heard people ask the question, “how do you eat an elephant?”
The answer is “one bite at a time.”
If one looks at the whole elephant it seems overwhelming.. look at that one bite in front of you it’s not as overwhelming.
One thing one moment now,
The here and now.
If ya need something to do clean up the house not because it’s dirty.. because it’s something selflessly productive.

Your right where your supposed to be brother
Thank you to everyone sincerely thank you
Yes… what Ellis said … give yourself some grace !! I went through the same thing … then little by little I’ve filled my time … and now I barely have time to work !!!
I keep seeing posts like this and I can absolutely relate. The more I think about it something strikes me. Maybe sobriety is more difficult than we give it credit for. Like it’s like a complicated lift, yoga pose or kick flip on a skateboard. You give it a go and you need to start light or fall out of your tree pose or miss the board.
Then typically you have a laugh or think about what happens and give it another go. Keep practicing it until you get it.
I think the fallacy is in thinking you can just do it perfectly right out of the gate.
