I'm having so many problems because I chose to get sober and my fiance has not and hasn't even tried to be. It's been a very hard situation for me recently. Does anyone have any advice about this at all. Anything would help because there's so many issues I don't even know how to begin to ask questions
Does he know he might need to at least stop for a while?
You have to make a choice then. He doesn’t want to stop, you do. It’s either him or your sobriety. Can’t love both. Have you thought about a rehab to get a break from life and learn some tools to get you on a sober path? We can’t make others quit. Best way to help loved ones is by example and hope they follow.
I agree with K. Bradford. You're going to have to make a decision. If you want sobriety you are going to have make it happen. With or without him. Sorry
You need to take care of yourself first and foremost ! Stay connected to ur sponsor and attend meetings !
There's a program called Al-Anon it's 12 steps but it's for people who love the Alcoholic an Addict too check it out
I highly recommend it
That's a extremely hard position. Don't want you to spill your buisness, but is there deeper issues besides his drinking? Not saying will happen to you but I've heard so many times in AA, inpatient treatment that some have to just walk away. Try the no tech way. Pros and Cons. If your drinking causes you to act out, black out, make you suicidal then yes he should hold off for your sobriety. Any questions text me. I've walked away from my battle body's I deployed with. We were inseparable, untill I realized alcohol was gonna kill me. Reach out any time.
Your 100 percent right if alcohol is only issue. I had to make tough choices prior to leaving rehab. I'm 1000 percent better off now. Thank God.
Just making a funny. You semi retired because you inherited another child lol.
I have to agree with those who question whether alcohol is the only underlying issue. If your fiancé cares about your well-being he should at least be open to a conversation to understand your struggle. It doesn’t necessarily mean he has to quit drinking (assuming he’s not an alcoholic), but certainly exercising restraint, not drinking around you, engaging in activities with you that don’t revolve around alcohol, etc.
Better to address these issues and ask the hard questions now than years later when kids could be involved. There’s enough generational trauma being passed along in our society….
Sorry, just looked at your previous posts. Looks like your sober from meth? My opinion, you DEFINITELY need to look out for yourself. You understand better than anyone, that sh*t is no joke.
I was married when I got sober.. my husband didn’t get sober and had no intentions of doing so.. I had to get away from him.. so I moved out.. got a house of my own.. he ended up dying from a drug overdose.. I’m still sober since May 27 1996.. do t let anyone drag you down.. if he’s not helping you he’s hurting you..!!
In attempting to help a guy get clean, I found myself addicted and spiraling further out of control than I ever have before. And he loved that, called me his little meth head, adorable, right? Misery LOVES company! Please do not forget that.
Be honest with yourself. Do you want to live? Do you want the better life waiting for you? If you do, you cannot be living in the same house with someone who is using. Time is ticking.
You can’t help him when you can’t even help yourself. Please surrender and get help for yourself.. Then, think about if you want a relationship with this person for the rest of your life. If it’s meant to be, it will be.
You CAN do this, but you can’t do it with him. And you can’t do it alone, you need to find meetings to attend daily and a therapist. Help is out there.
Please reach out whenever!
Been there. He’s right.
First you have to get honest with yourself wats more important my sobriety or him anything i put in my recovery is the first thing I loose second have an open mind he would choose me over drinking 3 turn your your will n life over to God and ask him if it's your will please put a man in.life
