Im looking for good books on recovery.
I really enjoyed A million little pieces by James Frey and Tweak by Nic Sheff. Not really recovery books but biography’s of there journey to recovery. For recovery I always have an AA and NA book by my bedside. The Happiness Equation also stays by my bedside.
Surviving Sobriety is a practical non-AA manual on recovery.
The Golden Key is a “practical spiritual guide”
Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist take on recovery similar to the AA Big Book
Running Man by Charlie Engle is about a cocaine addict who used ultra running to motivate recovery.
Man’s Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl not recovery but about life written from a holocaust and psychologist perspective
Thank you Mike! I read a million little pieces just out of high school and it changed my perspective on a lot of things for the better. I look forward to checking out these other books!
I just started attending a RH (Recovery Dharma) group and they have a book.
Thank you everyone so much for all the great suggestions! If nothing else, reading all these books will definitely keep me to busy to and happily distracted to fall back into my drinking habits! I am also very excited to learn and understand this disease. I am curious if anyone has an opinion on This Naked Mind by Annie Grace? I haven’t read it but it has also been recommended. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all again
The Ultimate Quest for This book resonated with me so much so, I felt as though I could have written it!! Healing : Escape from addiction, hurts, and destructive habits; march towards a goal, a moral progress, a transformation
