Welcome Larry. A lot of good people here. We all have the same issues, nothing to hide. I would suggest checking out a in person program in your area (AA or another, there are many). The support and fellowship you get there makes a huge difference
Larry, welcome to Loosid! Where our drinking problem meet a common solution-sobriety. I’m glad you took your daughters advice! That was awesome and brave. Most of us don’t like taking suggestions from anyone.
Can I ask, is you drinking getting in the way of your life?
I can say for myself that my drinking caused me to do stupid stuff and my selfish behaviors made it even worse for me. Today I work a strong program of Alcoholics Anonymous. I love to help others on this app as well by sharing my experiences with alcohol, drugs and my past behaviors. I also will share what’s its like now, now that I found a solution my drink habit. The root cause was I didn’t love me. I didn’t like to feel emotions that made me uncomfortable. Plus we are raised not to cry or show emotions as men! Well today I cry, and I can feel those emotions that cause discomfort. I lean in and then talk about them. 26 months of sobriety and my life is abundantly beautiful.
