I'm on day 5 and I think my cortisol levels are very high each morning. Is this normal? I'm using box breathing to lower the level, need to get soen exercise, but can I expect this to level off any time soon?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Congrats on making it to day 5!
I take Ashwagandha, it’s a a herb that helps lower cortisol and manage stress. Also a multivitamin, and I’m working hard to improve my diet. Less processed sugar can also support your body’s recovery and help balance stress hormones. If your symptoms continue, it’s a good idea to get tested for peace of mind.
But it’s normal for your body to need time to adjust after substance use.
How long it takes to feel “normal” again might depend on how long you were in active addiction. Some people see improvements in a few weeks, while for others it can take months or longer for things like cortisol levels and stress responses to settle down. Everyone’s recovery is different, so be patient with yourself and keep taking positive steps forward. The good news is…. Everything slowly starts to recover.
Thank you Crissy!
