Im so grateful to the person who shared that theyre gratedul to be sober even if it sometimes feels like a prison. I can relate to that so much. Like i dont want to use anymore but sometimes i feel prisoner to the fact i cant.

Hey, that was me. I am grateful that that helped you, and you can relate. We sometimes forget that being an addict took up HUGE CHUNKS of our lives and we were someone who we aren't. And we have to relearn who we are without the substance of our choice. It is hard as f***. Sometimes doesn't seem worth it, even though we know, deep down, we are in fact, better versions of ourselves sober than we ever were while using. Prisoners to the addiction and idea of who we were rather than who we actually are. Institutionalized versions of ourselves, yet, nowhere near who we truly are.
I am grateful for you!

Your verbage is perfect! Thank you for sharing I can totally relate. I'm grateful to be clean and sober and truly have no desire to go backwards. Institutionalized versions yet nowhere near who we truly are is the best description! Happy 14 years btw.
