Im struggling with alcohol i was sober for 4 months
Struggles are real but so are you. Play the tape, trust yourself and the decisions you've made
I’ve had this app for a year can someone recommend something for me to do ?
Look for a meeting in your area? Call a friend or family member? Go for a walk? Hot shower? Yoga? Triggers and urges will pass, stay mindful of your self worth and remember the world is a better place with you being present.
Laurie, I was a chronic relapser for too long. I had to get help. First detox and then went to three AA meetings daily for way over a year. I got a sponsor and did the 12 steps multiple times. Don’t try to do this on your own is what I learned. I had to make my sobriety, the number one priority in my life over finance, romance and even family. Once I did that I was able to have freedom for my addiction and to have a life worth having. I’m here if you wanna talk.
I will start looking for meetings thank you for reaching out
Hi Lori! it’s different for everybody with their recovery road. There was a point I thought I wouldn’t make it back to sobriety I couldn’t stay sober for even a day. Don’t give up hope. There is always hope. AA has fellowship with other individuals who have been there and won’t be surprised by what you share. There’s people there that understand and want to help you. You can even do an online zoom meeting and listen. You tube videos on as literature from the big book where you can hear stories of other people that went out after sobriety. I call someone I trust or meetup to have coffee or eat to not drink. There’s a way out and I know you can do it! You’re not alone!!
Thank you I will try zoom meeting
You’re so strong to even be willing to try.
Just find a meeting and show up. Try it and see. Talk to a couple of people there. If it’s not for you, try a different one. If nothing else, it will get you out and into a safe space for a little while. I hope it works for you, even just a little bit.
One thing that might help is starting a journal and writing down three reasons each day why you chose sobriety or what staying sober means to you. Remembering your why is a powerful motivator.
