I'm very lonely, and it makes me talk to people at work too much. Not sure if that needs advice, but I hate to think I annoy people.
Loneliness seems almost universal in recovery, and unfortunately it’s still isn’t a good look in society, even after COVID 
. It’s the main reason I go to meetings, the fellowship. Don’t worry about steps or a sponsor, get out around others who understand. I totally feel you John, I’ve been sober 2.5 years and it’s been the loneliest time of my life. But I’m sober!

This is deep. People don't always associate someone who is outgoing w being lonely, when it's fairly common. Keep being you and building a better you through recovery - the rest will fall into place.

You are correct. I am seen as very outgoing.

Keep at it, it gets easier. I got a dog which helped a lot, make meetings, etc….

I would like to say that if you have a relationship with your higher power, you shouldn't be lonely. You may think you're lonely but trust me, God is your co-pilot..

I agree with Skot and Kenan. We have to fight the loneliness by getting away from it. I’m also finding solace in meetings AND friends. Some are new friends. Some old friends I miss, sometimes, but basically all we did was drink and her high. Did any of them check on my while I was in rehab…or since? Very few. Those who did are the ones who understand. Speaking of The Beatles, I learned to play “With a little help from my friends” while in rehab. It’s become one of my go to songs. You’ve got this. One day at a time bud.
