In a new city all alone, what does everyone do

In a new city all alone (LA) I’m starting to get antsy… What does everyone do on weekends?

Weekends used to be my most difficult times as well. Meditation has helped a lot with being able to “do nothing” and feel ok. As for activities and meeting new people, I strongly recommend meetings (AA or NA). It’s a great place to meet sober friends. Look for some women’s meetings if you’re looking for some sober sisters to hang out with.

You’re in Glendora in the spring!! Strawberry donuts from the Donut Man. Ooh and come summer when the peaches are ripe. Oh man takes me back. Standing in that line counting the ppl in front of me and the donuts that were ready, good god that’s heavenly.

Oh yeah, LA is probably the greatest sober place? Or has the most sober stuff to explore? Idk but if all else fails you have good donuts.

I’m usually hiking, or hanging with friends. Sometimes I’m helping out Sponsees.
Enjoying life.
Going to church and life groups. Staying busy and connected to the inner circle. Meetings are another great way to stay sober and be of service.

How many months / years do you have to have to be a sponser?

I was sponsoring others as soon as possible. My sponsor told me as long as I stayed ahead of them on my step work that it would be ok. I was eager to help others. I don’t know if there is a right or wrong answer here. Bill W. wasn’t sober long when he was helping others. Remember that sponsoring someone else isn’t so much as helping them as it keeps your sober. That’s the key to this program. We help others by giving away what was freely given to us and in return we stay sober. It’s magical. Just beautiful. And to watch a sponsee grow spiritually is another gift. I can say that now that I’m sponsoring others when I meet with my sponsor it’s not just for guidance anymore it’s to help him stay sober just as much as it is for me to stay sober. I’m actually building a friendship with him. Something I never really had with another man before. I was always a me, myself and I person.
Hope this helped you.
