In recovery, I’m learning that happiness is something I can accept, not something I have to control or earn. For years, my mind stayed focused on what was wrong, even when things were going well. That old way of thinking kept me restless and afraid.

The program reminds me to live one day at a time and to trust my Higher Power with the things I can’t control. When I stay present, practice gratitude, and work the steps, I don’t have to run from happiness or wait for it to be taken away.

Just for today, I can accept peace, trust the process, and allow myself to be happy in recovery.
