Insomnia is the hardest thing in my early recovery right

Insomnia is the hardest thing in my early recovery right now…….. Zzzz. (Please)

When I came back from a combat tour in Afghanistan I never slept the same again when I got back to the US. That was 13 years ago. I take a medication prescribed by the doctor called Quitiapine. If I don't take it I won't sleep. If I take it I sleep pretty well and can function pretty well. I don't know what I would do without the medication. I have been sober 5 months but the insomnia never changed. Hope that helps if you keep struggling with sleep.

Don’t worry about it. That just makes it worse. When I am having trouble sleeping, I just accept that I’m not going to sleep. I can manage a day without sleep a lot better than one with a hangover. Funny thing is that almost as soon as I accept it- zzzz. lol The trick to sleeping isn’t trying harder. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks, thnking of picking up melatonin tomorrow

I hear I can last years, I’m trying binaural beats now

It's kind of interesting after I looked up the Quitiapine I take for sleep from the veterans affairs. It is mainly used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar or other disorders and rarely for sleep and is not recommended if sleep is the main issue. I have had good results with this but...now that I looked it up I will be asking by doctor if I can take something else unless this is the best possible sleep solution. I have tried melatonin, teas, rain sounds, food, excercise and the list goes on.

But I'm glad I brought this medication up to you now as I did a little research. Usually I just ask the doctor for help with sleep and be a guinea pig. It may be my best sleep option but I will be making a change to see if there is something not focused for schizophrenic disorders which I don't have.

Exhaust your self during the day.no naps. No setting around .stay busy.meetings help take up time.just one hour.:dromedary_camel:
